Catherine Hewson studied piano performance at WLU with Garth Beckett, and violin as a second instrument. She followed her undergraduate studies with a Masters in Musicology at the University of Western Ontario specializing in early music performance practice.

Catherine has been teaching piano both privately since 1979, and at The Beckett School since 1988 and freelancing as an accompanist. She has collaborated with Suzuki Talent Education Waterloo (STEW) for several years, with the Suzuki String School of Guelph (SSSG) and with the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute (SOSI). She is also presently engaged at WLU as the Piano Facility Coordinator and teaches piano skills to non-pianist Music Majors.
